Savcor Helping Improve Literacy Rates in PNG

Tuesday, July 12th, 2016

Savcor ART Pty Ltd are proud to be associated with Buk Bilong Pikini (BBP), translating to ‘books for kids’ and who provide literacy based programs for children across PNG. Savcor ART, together with Curtain Bros and Nawae Construction recently completed the construction of a library.

Here’s what Anne-Sophie Founder, Chair and Canberra Office Director had to say recently on BBP’s Facebook post:

BbP is excited to continue to receive support from the prestigious construction company Savcor ART, which has already built a library for us at Lelehoa Primary School in Alotau.

Savcor ART has renovated some of the most iconic and great buildings of Australia and is now also working on a number of high profile buildings and projects in PNG – such as the Monian Tower in down town Port Moresby. The company has worked on the Sydney Opera House, the Savoy Plaza, Monash University, the Grace building, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney as well as the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne just to name a few.

Despite this busy schedule Savcor still took time to build our library in Alotau together with Curtain Bros and Nawae Constructions and will now be assisting with the maintenance and reconstruction of our existing libraries.

The library was opened in November 2015 by Hon. Charles Abel, and is now a great asset for the school and surrounding community.

BbP is very grateful to receive support for our buildings by such building experts!

Thank you Campbell and the Savcor ART team!

We look forward working together with Buk Bilong Pikini in helping them improve literacy rates for all children across PNG.

The Trade Expo also provided an opportunity for Australian and PNG companies to market their business as well as broaden business relations. For Savcor ART, this was also an opportunity to showcase the outstanding achievements of our national workforce in PNG having successfully delivered numerous major infrastructure rehabilitation and remediation projects over the past nine (9) years.

Savcor Increase Training for PNG National Personnel

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016

Savcor had recently engaged the services of Cairns Height Safety to run heights training for all their PNG national based project personnel in Port Moresby. The training involved both theory and practical based components, as was aimed at helping our national workforce understand the risks associated with working at heights, as well as a reminder that safety is everyone’s responsibility.

As part of the practical component of the heights training, personnel had the opportunity take part in mock evacuations, with the emergency rescue of personnel from heights.

This just another way that Savcor ART are raising the safety standards in PNG.
